Stock Flywheel:

The stock flywheel is a cast steel afair and fairly heavy - it weighs in at 6.5Kg (measured), but not anywhere near as heavy as a lot of aftermarket manufacturers would have you believe (some claim 10kg!). This forms the surface that the clutch friction disc is forced against in order to engage the gearbox with the engine.

The image above shows a fairly well worn flywheel with no major highspots but a well burned surface from enthusiastic driving. In actual fact if you put a straigh-edge across the surface you can see the inner diameter of the friction surface is about 1mm lower than the outer surface. There is also a score from previous clutch wearing down to the rivets but it is very minor.
