The viscous coupler is the item that prevents the car acting like a 1wd vehicle when one end is on slippy stuff. If the car didn't have the VC and one axle started to slip, it would get all of the torque leaving the other end trailing uselessly. The Alltrac/GT4 uses a VC to limit slip by locking the front and rear together.

It provides a 50:50 torque split and is not adjustable.
